I can put
together IKEA furniture.
Something my
roommate and I discovered last night is that when you have two people reading
instructions, you have twice as many chances to mess it up. But damn if it isn’t fun.
Having my
puppy crawling all over the pieces and stealing things didn’t help.
But you know
what, at the end of the day, our new apartment has a new coffee table in it.
Yay! I don’t think that this is something that many people would think is
something to be proud of, but I am. Mostly because we didn’t give up. Even when
we put the screws in wrong all four times, we still muddled through and got
that damn thing together.
And then this morning I put together a
lamp.
A lamp!
So maybe
furniture isn’t the most epic of all projects, especially when it’s the stuff
that comes with instructions so simple that they don’t even have words, but I
feel good about it.
Tomorrow is a
new day full of new stuff.
Challenge to
my Readers: Appreciate the small things you’re good at, even if you think it’s
stupid. It matters because it is something you have worked at.
