Day One Hundred and Thirty Five: Forgiving

We all make mistakes. Lord knows I make about ten a day.
Tonight was a pain my ass. We had a benefit night at my job, kind of sprung on me without notice. This always drives me a little nuts because we don’t get to keep our tips on benefit nights. To make matters worse, I have a huge catering even coming up, I’m short on inventory, planning Free Cone Day and trying to get together a special event for the company.

Because somewhere up there someone is intent on making my life a living hell just because it’s funny; my scoopers for the benefit didn’t show up. See, they didn’t think they had to do anything; we would just hand them a check without having done any of the work. I had to get a customer who knew someone in a group and call them. We finally got two of the girls in. They turned out to be really nice, just mildly confused.
I worked with them all night to make sure they actually got some money out of the deal. I didn’t want a silly mistake to ruin their chances to do what their group needed to do. They worked hard all night and did a really good job.

I could have thrown them out, I had that option. After all, they were basically no shows on a previously agreed work schedule. But I didn’t want to because they made a mistake. I make mistakes every single day, tons of them. Maybe even more than the average man. And I would like to think that other people would give me the benefit of the doubt if I made a mistake like that.

Challenge to my Readers:
Forgive and forget, move on. Forgiveness is about you, it’s something you do for yourself in order to get it off your chest.
